Skydiving on Christmas
I left for Puerto Vallarta today. Yes, I left before Christmas and on my mom's birthday (love you, mom!) but the timing worked out well and I saw my whole extended family at Thanksgiving so I felt ok about missing out this year. I have been to PV a number of times, I know people who live there, and I knew others who would be there during the same time this year so it all worked out well.
This stay was in an Airbnb in the Romantic Zone. It was a little bit of a walk to the action but also allowed for some quiet time and some good R&R. I was on PTO for this trip and it was nice being able to check out for a few days.
There were a couple of planned activities/excursions, but mostly it was just going with the flow day by day. There were multiple days spent at the beach and the rooftop pool at the Airbnb.
I was invited on a boat one day with friends for a late afternoon/early evening trip to do some whale watching and to catch the sunset on the water. If you've never experienced the sunset in PV, it's absolutely magical. We saw a couple whales on the ride, but got to see multiple pods of dolphins up close to the boat.
On the last full day which happened to be Christmas Day, Matt and I went skydiving through Skydive Vallarta . I had never had the desire to jump out of a plane but when Matt asked if I wanted to do it, I said, “why not?” I mean, you're supposed to jump out of a plane when you're having a midlife crisis and on a nomadic journey, right? It was an amazing experience. The views were breathtaking, the process was super easy, and I would definitely skydive again - in a Caitlin Clark jersey again, of course.
Leaving on the 26th was hard as the trip and weather were perfect. Knowing I'll be back in a couple weeks for the birthday made it a little easier.
I had to work on the 27th so I decided to stay in Houston for two nights as it's a quick flight from Puerto Vallarta and I didn't want to spend all day traveling.
Next stop: Nashville for the Music City Bowl
Where I stayed: Airbnb (Puerto Vallarta), DoubleTree by Hilton Houston Intercontinental Airport Upcoming Locations: Nashville, Puerto Vallarta
Favorites: Skydiving, dinner at Don Chava, nightly “fruit loops” with Trinity and Mat
